One Year Bible Study Plan
January 10, 2010 through January 9, 2011
The Plan
There are several ways to read the Bible through in one year. For simplicity sake, we're chosing to read it "Cover to Cover", beginning in Genesis 1:1 and ending with Revelation 22:21.
Here's the reading plan we are going to use:
What Bible Version?
Use whatever translation or paraphrase version that you want. In fact, you may want to swap between versions as we progress or even (if you have time) read more than one. The most important thing is to read and consume and digest God's word. If you spend lots of time in your car, perhaps you can try a cassette/CD/MP3 version.
You can read the day's text online at several different websites. BibleGateway has online audio of several versions. And I found downloadable MP3 files for KJV and NIV with just a little digging, so there seems to be plenty of media available.
Sunday Meetings
Each Sunday in Sunday School we'll talk about what we read during the week. Take notes, write in your Bible, pray for help understanding what you read, and come expecting to share insights together. Our regular weekly meeting will not only feed our fellowship and discipleship needs, but will also keep us all accountable.
What if I Miss a Day? a Week?
You know, this is going to happen to all of us sometime during the next year. Probably more than once. Since we know this is going to happen, try to avoid getting discouraged or feeling unworthy. Just get back on the bandwagon as soon as you can. Phone a friend for encouragement. If you can't make up for lost time, don't fret it. Nobody is going to judge you as "unclean".
This project IS stepping way outside most of our comfort zones and it IS going to be tough at times. But getting the entire Word into our lives in one year is going to change each one of us, our families, our church, and our world for the better. But this journey is NOT going to be pain-free. Just be prepared.
Know that the rewards far exceed the cost. This project provides off-the-chart ROI. This next year is really going to make a difference.
